Main Pool and Diving Pool unavailable during swim practices and Swim Meets.

Copper Valley Club members are fortunate to have three pools available for their use from Memorial Day through Labor Day. There is a fenced in kiddie pool with a grassy area for play and picnicking. It also has a spacious pool deck with chairs for parents to supervise their children while socializing with other members.

The main pool is 25 yards long and six lanes wide, with at least one lap lane available at all times for lap swimming. In addition to the main pool, experienced swimmers can enjoy a diving pool. There also are plenty of lounge chairs and tables with umbrellas to sit by the pools and enjoy your summer day. All areas are supervised by certified lifeguards at all times.

Adjacent to the pool area is the snack bar, a game room, small basketball court and large playground with activities for all. The playground includes swings, a sandbox and a volleyball court as well as a picnic tables to enjoy a bite to eat in the shade.

SWIM TEAM

Copper Valley has been known for its competitive swim team for swimmers up to18 years of age under the direction of Coach Jim McKee for over 25 years. Jim McKee brings to Copper Valley years of experience and a vast knowledge of the sport while making the swim team experience enjoyable as well, from the youngest to the most seasoned swimmer. During the winter months, Jim is the coach for the Naugatuck High School boys’ and girls’ swim teams as well as for the Naugatuck Thunderfish. We are fortunate to have Jim! A child only has to be able to swim one length of the pool to be on the team.

We also are fortunate to have Jesse Cyr as our diving coach. Jesse comes to us every summer from the Southern Connecticut State University Owls swimming team, where he also is the head diving coach. Several of our local divers have gone on to higher competitions while under the direction of Jesse. He welcomes divers of any age up to 18 to join him.

Private lessons are available through our coaches. The one-on-one that they offer are invaluable for any competitor. Group stroke clinics are provided by Jim McKee during the swim season and take place after swim team practice.

The swim team season usually runs from the week schools are out until the end of July. This year, practices will start on June 21st.
